About ACSA
The Adult Competitive Sports Association (ACSA) is a national governing and sanctioning body established to provide consistent standards, oversight, and accountability for adult competitive sports in the United States.
ACSA’s mandate is to bring structure to a fragmented adult sports landscape by establishing uniform expectations for eligibility, conduct, competition structure, and risk management. Through responsible sanctioning and centralized governance, ACSA supports credible, organized adult competition across independent leagues and events.
Our Role as a Governing Body
ACSA does not operate leagues, teams, or facilities.
Instead, ACSA functions as an independent governing authority that:

sanctions adult leagues and events that meet established standards,
-
defines minimum operating requirements,
-
enforces disciplinary and conduct policies when violations occur, and
-
provides centralized access to insurance aligned with sanctioned competition.
League operators remain independent entities. Sanctioning by ACSA signifies that a league or event has been authorized to operate within a nationally recognized governance framework.
Competition Structure &
Classification
Where participation levels permit, ACSA-sanctioned competition may be organized into divisions based on age, experience, or competitive level. This structure promotes fairness, competitive balance, and participant safety while preserving the integrity of play.
Division classifications are not intended to restrict opportunity, but to ensure that competition occurs within clearly defined and consistently applied parameters.
ACSA reserves the authority to establish, recognize, or withdraw classification standards as necessary to maintain competitive integrity.
Competitive Integrity &
Enforcement
The credibility of adult competitive sport depends on consistent enforcement.
ACSA maintains formal standards related to:

participant eligibility,
-
team and player conduct,
-
respect for officials,
-
dispute resolution, and
-
disciplinary escalation.
Violations of ACSA standards may result in corrective or disciplinary action, including warnings, fines, forfeitures, suspensions, or revocation of sanctioning, as appropriate to the severity and frequency of the violation.
All enforcement actions are subject to documented procedures and defined appeal pathways.
Insurance & Risk Governance
ACSA serves as the primary policyholder for national liability and participant coverage associated with sanctioned competition.
This structure:

reduces administrative burden for operators and facilities,

establishes clear accountability in the event of an incident, and
-
aligns risk management practices with nationally recognized standards.
Insurance coverage applies only to activities conducted in compliance with ACSA sanctioning requirements.
