ACSA Insurance Program Summary

The Adult Competitive Sports Association (ACSA) maintains a national insurance program designed to support adult competitive basketball conducted under ACSA sanctioning. Insurance coverage is a benefit of participation in ACSA-sanctioned leagues and events and applies only to activities that are properly approved and conducted in accordance with ACSA standards.

ACSA Insurance Overview

  • When participating in ACSA-sanctioned activities, coverage may apply to:

    • Registered ACSA athletes

    • Registered officials, coaches, and non-athlete participants

    • Sanctioned leagues, teams, and event organizers

    • Host facilities and municipalities named as additional insureds

    • ACSA officers, administrators, and representatives acting within their official roles

All participants must be properly registered, and activities must be formally sanctioned for coverage to apply.

  • Insurance coverage applies only to approved ACSA-sanctioned activities, including:

    • Regular-season league games

    • League playoffs and league championship games

    • Sanctioned tournaments, showcases, and special events conducted within approved dates

    • Supervised activities that are part of an approved league or event

Activities conducted outside approved schedules, dates, or locations are not covered, even if participants hold active ACSA memberships.

  • Participant Accident Coverage (Excess Medical)

ACSA provides participant accident coverage for registered participants who are injured during sanctioned activities.

    • Coverage applies on an excess basis, after any personal health insurance

    • Medical benefits, dental coverage, and accidental death benefits may apply

    • Deductibles and benefit limits are outlined in the detailed insurance summary

This coverage is intended to help offset medical costs resulting from covered injuries.

    General Liability Coverage

ACSA maintains general liability insurance for sanctioned activities, which may include:

    • Bodily injury and property damage claims

    • Athletic participant liability

    • Medical payments for minor injuries

    • Coverage for sanctioned leagues, events, and approved venues

General liability coverage is provided under a master policy and applies only to sanctioned activities.

  • Facilities hosting ACSA-sanctioned activities may request Certificates of Insurance (COIs) confirming coverage under the ACSA insurance program.

    • Facilities may be named as additional insureds when required

    • Certificates apply only to approved dates, locations, and activities

    • Certain endorsements may require advance notice or approval.

Insurance certificates do not extend coverage beyond sanctioned activity.

  • To remain eligible for coverage:

    • All participants must be properly registered

    • Activities must be formally sanctioned by ACSA

    • Events must be conducted in compliance with ACSA standards

    • Required waivers and releases must be maintained by operators

    • Incidents must be reported promptly in accordance with ACSA procedures

Failure to comply with these requirements may affect coverage eligibility.

  • All injuries or incidents occurring during sanctioned activities must be reported in a timely manner using ACSA’s incident reporting process. Prompt reporting supports participant safety and insurance administration.

  • This summary is provided for general informational purposes only and does not constitute a policy of insurance. Coverage is subject to the terms, conditions, limitations, and exclusions of the applicable insurance policies. In the event of a conflict, the policy language governs.
